Season I
Three friends. Three very different approaches to reading.
Whoever you are and however you read, you’ll find your people here.
Start ListeningAbout the Podcast
My Wife Likes Books is a fortnightly podcast where Sarah, Sophie and Sallie talk about the books they've been reading — the ones they adored, the ones that disappointed, and the all important read along… which can go either way too.
Expect lively conversations, a few disagreements, and plenty of book recommendations along the way.
Each episode has three sections:
-
The Offering
Each of the hosts brings a book for either veneration or sacrifice. It could be a classic. It could be an all-time favourite. It could be the book we finished three weeks ago and can’t stop talking about. If we love it we venerate it, if we hate it we sacrifice it — as long as we can convince the other hosts to agree.
-
The Bit Where We Get Into It
Everyone does things differently in life, and how we approach reading is no different. Each episode we get into a bookish topic — talking about everything from what makes a story “young adult”, to how we track our reading, to who inspired us to get into reading in the first place.
-
The Read Along
Like any good book club, we’ve got a singular book we’re working our way through and dying to discuss. Each season we focus on a different book, reading a section at a time along with the audience and then analysing it together.
The Hosts
-
Sarah
Sarah is our delightful reading addict. She’ll read anything from literary fiction to the trashiest fantasy romance to high brow narrative non-fiction. She never judges and loves getting excited about whatever it is you’re reading.
-
Sophie
Sophie is a lover of books that linger, from quiet, strange literary fiction to sprawling epics that leave you staring at the wall afterwards. Expect some diverse picks and hot takes.
-
Sallie
Our casual fantasy enthusiast. Sallie doesn't mind a good cry or laugh, especially over a gripping story. Sallie's picks lean towards fantasy or anything with a dash of romance, but she'll fight with conviction about any genre.
The Bookshelf
What we've been reading lately — who’s your match?
Read Along With Us
This season, we’re reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. It’s a heavy book (physically and emotionally), so please take care of yourself when reading.
